About Me

Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
Many little girls dream of becoming a dancer when young. I was one of them and did, as well as teaching in many areas of this art form. However I made the change to becoming a gym trainer and eventually a competitor in Figure. After being diagnosed with two interlinked "conditions" I pushed on to continue competing as sportsmodel, however wish to return to compete in figure. This blog is to show those who feel certain conditions in any area of their lives can be overcome to still reach their full potential and dreams. This blog is my journey to overcome obstacles and inspire others to do the same.

pole dancing sat 26052007 Greetings all!Id like to introduce an important member of Team Jewel. One which has helped me accomplish my firs place in sportsmodel ANB and INBA in March this year. Her name is Lisa, my pole dancing teacher. As i become more capable at setting up my website ill be able to attach some of her details and pics from dress up nights that we have monthly at pole dancing-they may even be there now. I started pole dancing lessons late last year, but due to "Pole fear"(no it is NOT natural to throw yourself at a vertical metal pole!!!!:)) and the fact that I WAS throwing instead of easing my way into the spins and trix, I injured myself and had to take a long time to recover. I then took the time to realise that anything worth attaining was worth trial and errors and came back when fully healed early this year. My work friend Suzy and siblings join me every Friday night(Lisa's favourite class apparently!!!!) to shake our booties, in 6 inch stilletto boots and climb and spin to our hearts content! Clothes stay on at all times and I am attracted to its athletiscism! the dancing part comes naturally to me as does the climbing as I do have more than the average femme's upper body strength, but the sheer total strength output and coordination to be able to even spin around a pole let alone do upside down trix is astonishingly challenging! I LOVE IT! Lisa created a not overtly sexual chair dance for my ANB 60 sec routine and also helped me with my "strut!" (Walking onto and around the stage during competiton). We had so much fun. Earlier this year I performed in a showcase performace for our pole dancing school "Vertical fitness." There were 2 sections. The competition divisions were pole or chair solo routines and a spin competition where you just came on did three of your fav spins then strut off. The other was a showcase of the routines we had learnt throughout the year in class. I really wanted to create my own pole solo but at the time I was also doing the Sportsmodel comps and didnt own my own pole so wasnt able to choreograpgh any routines. Lisa asked me to be part of 2 lap dancing chair dances(no men or stripping!!!:)) with the lap dancing wednesday night class which I am not even a student of. It was pretty funny as I had just got my new 6 inch stilletos to replace my 1 inch stocky boots and was trying to do all these hippy moves! I looked so unco!LOL!ANY WHO! I had a ball and one of my friends called Jade won Ms Vertical fitness due to her routine to Xtina Aguerillas "candy man". Jade creates and make her own costumes and they tuirn out superb. i have told her I want her to be my costume maker for my competitions if I do sportsmodel in the future. Show stopper that girl!!This year Jade and another friend Nicole and I plan to do a trio to Diamonds and pearls by Prince. I was actually surprised when Nicole told me she had been thinking about it and shared her ideas and that she was keen to start choreography because usually i am the one with my head full of ideas just dying for someone to listen and make a start! I now have my own pole (1 months old! AWWWWWWW! in my spare room as does many of the keen pole dancing divas! I do have to make time to practice when I know it wont effect my upper body strength the next day etc. Lisa's man Rowe will be cutting my music for my figure comp in the Vics.
I am so happy to have her in my life!
In the past few years although I have been a social butterfly at times (yes im a libran) there have been more times when I have felt very lonely or wanted to be alone. I have searched at times to be around heaps of people and then yearned to be alone to give myself space to breath. in reagrds to training I love to train in the gym by myself but if i was to go and do a walk for cardio or other activites you could do alone or with others my preference is usually to do it with others. I have found that My friday night out with the girlies while my hubby goes and alternates between seeing two of his best budds-one on one, allows me to feel like I am getting the best of both worlds. Ie having training to myself and at other times not locking myself away for other activities. It really helps me to keep motivated.

My friends Marnie and Suzy have recently commented on how unstressed I sound when talking about pole dancing as opposed to how highly strung I was when attaining up to the highest levels in Latin dancing.(Apart from all the other dancing I have learnt.)
I CAN feel the difference inside my heart too. It feels good not to feel the weight of the world on my shoulders because I am depending only on myself for encouragement etc.

This is also the reason in the future I may be returning to MBS gym where I first did figure. Apparently they now have an online training ystem and one package especailly for competitors. This includes all comp fees costumes tan music editing shoes counselling and weekly posing group sessions and practice. I feel that this is what I really need right now-alot of support. I loved my one on one posing session with Sharon Waters but am not sure I could afford this continuously, especially when also saving for supplements. Although when I first competed in firgure with MBS I drove 45 min up and back for a weekly one on one PT session with G Tabaan, the online training system would work better for me. Maybe not financially, but in the long run, I dont need someone to motivate me, or stand next to me and say do a bicep curl.
But-encouragement in the form of posing sessions and being around other competitors so I realise I am not Different and that other competitors feel and live the same way I do , yes.

Im so sorry for this rambling but Id probably like your opinion dear readers. My current trainer is online which again is fine but she is in Sydney. I dont really need someone to write up my programs as I have been trained to do and have done my own for years. But can understand the fact that a trainer would want to take the package from start to finish especially when their name is attached to you stepping on stage at the end of the journey!
The benefit also of MBS is that I can email them whenever I want and get a reply within 24hours. Right now Irealise that my trainer in competing and has her mind on other things and therefore may not be able to give me all the support I feel I need during this time.

This morning I tried for the first time my hooks that I got from bodybuilding.com. They are like lifting straps that you an use on DBS BB rows and pull downs, but all you have to do is wrap the velcro wrist band around your wrist and then tada! there are hook instead of the messy flipping anf rabbing that always occurs when using straps. I used them for the first time today and was quite impressed. I do miss my old white gloves but am sure I will also get used to my new training gloves-and that they will stetch rather than continue to cut off circulation to the areas I need blood in the most!:)

I am still off my supplements except for good old glutamine and keep looking at my stock hiding in the cupboard thinking one more week and then ill be one with them again!!!!!:)

Guys, Thank you for listening to me again and I hope you all are doing well!
